Effect of some Cultivation Factors and Extraction Methods on Terminalia Catappa L. Seed Oil

Terminalia catappa L. is a common tropic tree for shade and ornament in many countries. Recently, seed oil has been considered as new oleaginous dietary biofuel production. In this study, ripe fruits originated Vietnam were collected extracted. our experiment conditions, the effect of location, age, annual harvest time on weight content was investigated. As results, seeds at eastern site ground obtained not only biggest size (3.607 g) but also contained highest mass percentage (56.38%). The suitable harvesting good quality from March to April. addition, extraction began being harvested fourth year with 55.88% compared 55.99% five six-year-old trees. After drying, extracted by different methods including cold screw pressing, hot hydraulic solvent extracting, combining method (cold pressing then cake). Among physical methods, observed yield 77.32%, low free fatty acid (0.550% oleic acid), value (1.080 mg KOH/g oil), peroxide (1.240 meq O2/kg oil). However, combination cake extracting increased 14.61%. saponification values fluctuated between 196 197 oil, while iodine range 77.00 79.89 g I2/kg oil.
